Hope Breathes Here: Small Joys Amid South Sudan’s Crisis

  • by

Sweet news.

Amid the horrors going on in South Sudan, with massacres and attacks happening daily, the kids at our residential Hand of Hope Community School have brand-new 100% cotton T-shirts that say “Hope Breathes Here,” donated by a supporter.

I believe they are drinking sorghum gruel as a treat today, with those nice new metal cups, along with 50 nice, broad metal bowls bought by another donor!

I’m rarely able (as a volunteer fundraiser) to raise enough to cover full staff pay, which is $1950 per month for everybody there. Indeed, usually the staff goes without so that the kids can eat ($9000 would fully fund the school for three months).
