UOCO’s kids, staff, and volunteers are thankful for you. Definitely!

Simple request. Giving Tuesday is coming up, a lovely focus on building peace with justice (I’ll be in the Holy Land). The school staff in our South Sudan orphanage accepts greatly reduced pay so that the children can eat; they always prioritize food. The kids walk to the local well for water. We are doing our best, but we need you; all of us on our UOCO Boards are volunteers. The school invoices $3,050 per month for total expenses. That’s only about $4 an hour. Your donation of $4, or multiples of that, are wisely used for this humbling work.

Do you know how to use a QR code? Turn on a cell phone camera and focus on this square. Then tap the link that appears to get to our webpage.

It takes less than $100 to run our school and orphan home for a solid day. If possible, kindly send enough to cover the kids with your loving concern for 24 hours. We all give thanks for YOU.

If we raise $96 for each day of operation, we not only help kids thrive in a rather harsh political environment, but the staff feeds their families, the local market sells our kitchen the food needed, and the village thrives. What a grace that you give people the strength to go on. Because of you and others uniting in this work, the children have relative safety, healthy food, and stimulation for their good  brains—one day at a time, they get to play, learn, build relationships, and just be kids.

It is your donations that allow us to keep the children in our school fed (never fancy—no refrigeration, no running water—just God, multiplying the loaves and the fishes), housed (not fancy either: no electricity, plumbing, nor private rooms), and educated (no school building with, um, obviously no electricity!) We offer zero frills, although I do think that would be fun sometimes!

We have finalized plans for the Gloria’s Grant School Build because of the generous gift of Gloria Ann Evans, a doctor of nursing. This will give us the buildings needed to facilitate a more gentle residential school life in this simple African village.

With gratitude to God, for you and for all the other wondrous people around the world who care to make a good difference!

Peace,
